Music - Part 103 - Martin Stephenson's Top 10 Albums

Followers of @hiapop on Twitter may think I’ve gone slightly Martin Stephenson mad of late.  Well, I have a little, and, with good reason.  I reviewed the California Star album last year for Louder Than War and Andy Cairns, Martin’s PR (who I already followed on Twitter) gave me huge compliments.  Tweets exchanged between the three of us and an ‘interview’ with Martin, which also appeared on LTW, eventually surfaced.

In short, both Andy and Martin have been lovely.  Yes, they are trying progress Martin’s career, but, they have been courteous and downright bloody nice chaps throughout.  They have helped raise the profile of my own blog for which I am eternally grateful, and, I feel I have made two good friends.  Martin even took time to read some of my poetry lately, calling Lament, ‘beautiful’.

So, here’s another MS article.  This time his all-time Top 10 favourite albums.  It was originally intended to form part of the interview but was split away to create a separate piece.

At the end is a special hiapop discount code for any purchases made via Martin’s website.  It will give you a whacking 25% off music downloaded up to 15 August.  Even my simple mathematic skills knows that if you buy four albums, you’ll effectively get one of them free!  If you are unfamiliar with his music, then use it as chance to get to know him.  He should be a national treasure.

Martin Stephenson’s Top 10 favourite albums of all time:

1.      Hot Rats - Frank Zappa

2.      Clear Spot - Captain Beefheart

3.      Fleetwood Macs Greatest Hits (early before Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham spoiled it)

4.      High Land Hard Rain - Aztec Camera

5.      VoxPop Puella - Helen McCookerybook

6.      Relics - Pink Floyd

7.      The Madcap Laughs - Syd Barrett

8.      Where Travellers Go - Scott Macdonald

9.      Texas Campfire Tapes - Michelle Shocked

10. Islands - King Crimson

Once more, a huge thank you to Martin for his time and kindness.
